Documents Required for a PAN Card 2025

PAN applicants must provide a specific set of identifying documents, just like with all other government-issued credentials. 

PAN applications can be submitted offline or online. For the same, two different types of applications are provided.

One is Form 49A, while the other is Form 49AA for foreigners. Additionally, applications can be submitted for a new PAN as well as for a PAN Card's rectification or reprint.

Note:  In case of PAN card application for minors, any of the above documents either for parents or the minor can be submitted as proof of identity

  1. If an Indian citizen is living outside, then the address proof can be provided through a three-month bank account statement from the country of residence or a Non-Resident External (NRE) account statement. 
  1. In the case of a Hindu Undivided Family (HUF), the head of the family (Karta) must submit an affidavit, listing the names of family members, their fathers’ names, and addresses of all members as of the date of the application. Along with this, a copy of any above document showing the Karta’s name should be provided to prove identity date of birth, and address.

Required Documents for PAN Card Application by a Trust Registered in India

An Association of Person (Trust) is a unit that is formed by a group of individuals and is allowed to hold assets on behalf of a beneficiary or beneficiaries. Trust can be formed in several different ways based on the aim of the unit.

Copies of the following documents are required by a trust to apply for PAN.

Proof of Identity (any one)

    A foreign national will have to submit the Citizenship Identification Number and Taxpayer Identification Number. These documents will have to be attested by the High Commission or the Indian Embassy.

    Yes, a company can apply for a PAN Card and the document required is Copy of Registration Certificate issued by the Registrar of Companies.
