As per this scheme, families with an annual income of Rs.59,000 or less in urban areas and families with an annual income of Rs.44,000 or less in rural areas are entitled to receive 5 kg of food grains per month at subsidised rates. 
  1. Annapurna Yojana (AY) ration card: This type of ration card is specifically designed for senior citizens aged above 65 years, who do not have a stable source of income or pension. As per this scheme, the eligible beneficiaries receive 10 kgs of food grains free of cost every month. 
  1. White ration cards: This type of ration card is issued to households above the poverty line. This category of ration card is given to families having a combined annual income of Rs. 1 lakh and above. Any family member with a four-wheeler or, in the case of a larger family, four hectares of irrigated land is eligible for this type of card. However, the specific criteria and benefits associated with white ration cards can vary across different states.

Step 2 - Go to the ‘e-services’ and click on ‘e-ration card’.

Step 3 - Next, select the ‘Print Ration Card’ or ‘e-ration card Download’, or ‘Get e-ration card’.  

Step 4 - You will be directed to a new page where you will complete an online form with all your information. You provided your name, date of birth, email address, mobile number, Aadhaar number, ration card number, and personal information.

Step 5 - Once you have entered the details, it will be verified by the PDS authorities, and you will be redirected to another page where you can download your ration card in PDF format.

How to Get an e-Ration Card Without Your Card Number

In case, you don’t know your ration card number or you have lost your ration card, you can follow the steps given below to download an e-ration card:

Step 1 - Visit the official website of your state’s PDS.

Step 2 - Go to the ‘Ration Card Services’ and click on ‘View Your Ration Card Details’.

Step 3 - You will be redirected to a new page where you must enter your details.

Step 4 - Once you have entered your basic details in the online form, click on ‘Submit’.

Step 5 - The new page will show the details of your ration card.

How to Transfer a Ration Card from One State to Another?

Follow the steps given below to transfer a ration card from one state to another: 

Step 1: Visit the nearest ‘Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Department’ office and submit a written application to surrender your existing ration card. 

Step 2: You will be required to provide all the necessary documents, and once that is verified, you will get a ration card surrender certificate. 

Step 3: Next, you will have to apply for a new ration card in the destination state.  

Step 4: Submit all the necessary documents along with an accurately filled form.

    Latest Ration Card Updates in 2025

    Telangana to Launch New Ration Card Process and Welfare Schemes on 26 January 2025

    The Telangana government will commence issuing new ration cards from 26 January 2025, announced State Minister Ponnam Prabhakar. Beneficiaries will be identified through a field-level verification between 16 and 20 January, followed by data entry on 21 January. Migrant families in Hyderabad will also be eligible for ration cards. 

    The launch will coincide with key welfare schemes, including the Indiramma Housing Scheme, prioritising landowners in Hyderabad and allocating completed double-bedroom houses through a draw of lots. Farmers will receive Rs. 12,000 per acre under Rythu Bharosa, while landless labourers will get Rs. 12,000 annually through Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa. Beneficiary lists for these programs will be displayed in Gram Sabhas. The Indiramma Housing Scheme has already sanctioned 3,500 houses per Assembly constituency, aiming to provide homes for 18.32 lakh identified homeless families.

    New Ration Card Released by Andhra Pradesh Government

    The Andhra Pradesh government has announced the issuance of new ration cards and released guidelines for the process. Starting on 2 December 2024, the applications for both new ration cards and modifications to existing ones are being accepted. The old cards will be canceled, and new ones will replace them. The application window will remain open until the 28th of this month, with the distribution of new cards scheduled for the Sankranti festival. Observing the importance of ration cards for accessing welfare schemes, a high volume of applications is anticipated. Individuals are eligible to apply for the Andhra Pradesh Ration Card if their monthly income is below Rs.10,000 in rural areas or Rs.12,000 in urban areas.

    ONORC Scheme Empowers 80 Crore Beneficiaries Across India

    The One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) initiative, led by the central government and managed by the Department of Food and Public Distribution, represents a pioneering effort aimed at guaranteeing food security for migrant labourers throughout India. This program enables the nationwide mobility of ration cards issued under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), allowing eligible recipients to access their allocated food supplies from any part of the country. With all 36 states and union territories covered under the ONORC framework, approximately 80 crore NFSA beneficiaries benefit from its provisions.

    In the Budget of 2023, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman allocated Rs. 1.97 lakh crore for food subsidies under the NFSA, marking a significant decrease from the revised estimate of Rs. 2.87 lakh crore for the fiscal year 2022-23. The NFSA caters to around 81.35 crore individuals, with approximately 79.73 crore persons currently availing subsidised food grains through NFSA and free rations via the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Kalyan Anna Yojana. Official data highlights the distribution of approximately 177 lakh tonnes of food grains.
