Unlike permanent RTO registration number, a temporary registration number is given by the dealer you buy the vehicle from. A temporary registration number is given to a brand new vehicle which is yet to be registered permanently. This temporary registration number is valid for a short time which is usually one month. WIthin this period, the vehicle should be mandatorily registered with the concerned RTO authority.
