How to Do Renewal of Registration Certificate?

Under the Motor Vehicle Act of 1988, any motor vehicle that is driven on the roads of the country should be registered. The owner of the vehicle can do so by obtaining a registration certificate for the same. The registration certificate of the vehicle is to be mandatorily renewed by the owner within 60 days of the expiry date.

There are certain documents that need to be submitted along with Form 25 for the owner to renew the registration certificate of the vehicle. They are:

  1. Form 25 which is the application to be submitted for the renewal of registration certificate.
  2. A certificate that states that the pollution emitted by the vehicle is under control.
  3. The RC book. This document may be required only in certain states.
  4. The original certificate of registration of the vehicle.
  5. A document that acts as proof of the road tax paid by the owner of the vehicle.
  6. Certificate of insurance of the vehicle.
  7. A copy of the vehicle owner's PAN card or Form 60 or Form 61, whichever is applicable.
  8. The engine pencil and chassis print of the vehicle registration certificate is to be renewed.
  9. A document which includes the signature identification of the owner.

Steps Required for the Renewal of Registration Certificate Online

To renew the registration certificate, you have to follow the steps mentioned below:

Step 1: Visit the official Parivahan Sewa website.  

Step 2: Choose your state of residence. 

Step 3: Choose the nearest RTO and click on the ‘Proceed’ option.  

Step 4: From the drop-down menu of ‘Services,’ click on ‘RC related Services.’ 

Step 5: Click on the ‘Renewal of Registration’ option.  

Step 6: Input your vehicle's registration number and chassis number.  

Step 7: Click on the ‘Verify Details’ option.  

If you want to pay your road tax, follow the steps mentioned below: 

Step 1: Visit the official Parivahan Sewa website. 

Step 2: Choose your state of residence. 

Step 3: Select the ‘Services’ option and click on ‘Pay Your Tax.’ 

Step 4: Enter your vehicle registration number. 

Step 5: Click on the ‘Verify Details’ option. Review the details of any outstanding tax payments. 

Step 6: Use your debit card or net banking option to make the payment. 

Step 7: Following a successful payment, you can schedule an RC renewal at a chosen RTO for your vehicle inspection.

Offline Process for Renewal of Registration Certificate 

If you want to renew your registration certificate, you will need to visit an RTO to collect Form 25 or download it from the official Parivahan Sewa website. You must then enter all the requested information like your vehicle registration number, expiry date, etc. Visit the nearest RTO and submit the form along with relevant documents and renewal fees. Upon completing the transaction, a receipt will be issued to you which must be kept for future reference.

Step 1: Visit the official Parivahan Sewa website.

Step 2: Choose your state of residence.

Step 3: Choose the nearest RTO and click on the ‘Proceed’ option.

Step 4: Click on the ‘Status’ option.

Step 5: Click on ‘Know Your Application Status.’

Step 6: Enter your vehicle registration number/renewal application number.

Step 7: Enter the captcha displayed on the screen and click on ‘Submit.’

Step 8: A new page will appear where you need to enter the application number you were given on making the renewal fee payment.

Step 9: To view the status of the RC renewal for your vehicle, click on ‘View Report.’
