Punjab Government Announced a Public Holiday on 29 April 2025

The Punjab Government has declared a public holiday on 29 April 2025 in observance of the birth anniversary of Lord Parshuram Ji. He is believed to be the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The holiday has also been added to the state’s list of official public holidays for the year 2025. As per the official notice, all government offices, schools, colleges, and private businesses will remain closed on this day.

Parshuram Jayanti is usually celebrated on the third day of Shukla Paksha of the Vaishakh month, which falls on 10 May 2025 this year. However, in Punjab, the holiday will be observed earlier on 29 April 2025 following local customs and the belief that he appeared during the Pradosh Kaal (a sacred evening period).

Public Holiday Declared by Punjab Government on 14 April 2025

The government of Punjab has declared a public holiday on 14 April 2025, in honor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's birth anniversary. This decision was made to recognize Dr. Ambedkar's contributions to equality and the Indian Constitution under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act-1881.

In Punjab holidays have been announced for three consecutive days

Punjab government has announced holidays for three consecutive days in late March 2025t. On 23 March 2025, the state honors the martyrdom of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru, reflecting on their sacrifice for India's freedom. Following this, Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, will be observed on 31 March 2025, which has been declared a public holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr by the Punjab government. The festival will fall on a Monday, and including the fourth Saturday and Sunday the residents of the state will enjoy an extended weekend with holidays for three consecutive days.
