The tourist visa, which is a non-convertible and non-extendable one, is needed by Indians while travelling to Thailand for the following reasons:

Thailand Tourist Visa Requirements

If an application is filed for availing a tourist visa, the documents mentioned below must be submitted. The documents which need to be submitted are the same irrespective of the place where the application is submitted i.e., at the Royal Thai Embassy or at the Royal Thai Consulate-General located in Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai.

1. Two recent passport-sized photographs against a white background.
2. Copy of the passport which has a validity of not less than six months and two opposite blank pages.
3. Proof of permanent residence in India (non-Indian passport holder).
4. Confirmed tickets in and out of Thailand.
5. Proof of confirmed hotel/accommodation reservation in Thailand with address and contact number.
6. If the individual is staying with Thai relatives or Thai friends, invitation letter along with a copy of their Thai ID proof must be submitted. In case they are not Thai, copies of visa and work permit along with a copy of passport must be submitted.
7. Bank-attested original bank passbook or bank statement (six months) having a minimum balance equivalent to $700.
8. International Health certificate on Yellow Fever Vaccination for applicants travelling from 45 countries.
9. Cover letter from both company and travel agency mentioning all names with passport numbers, travel plan, places of stay, company's bank statement which is attested by the bank, and company's business registration (only in case of incentive tour).

The validity of a tourist visa is of 3 months from the issued date and the stay duration can only be a maximum of 60 days, which can either be single or multiple entries.

The following key points have to be kept in mind before applying for a tourist visa:

The Do's:

1. A tourist visa has to be applied 4 weeks before the planned travel date because the application process will take time.
2. A visa application form has to be carefully filled and accurate. An incomplete form will be rejected immediately.
3. Bring both photocopies and originals of all the supporting documents while submitting the visa application form at the Thai Embassy.
4. Be prepared to provide additional documents if required by the authorities of the Thai Embassy.

The Don'ts:

1. Any false or fake documents provided by the applicant can call for serious troubles.
2. Never misrepresent or hide facts in the application.

Travel Requirements for Indian Citizens Visiting Thailand in 2025

The visitors who are above 18 years of age need to be fully vaccinated to enter Thailand. They also have to undergo an exit screening during departure at the airline check-in counter. The following are all the latest guidelines to get entry into Thailand:

1. COVID 19 vaccination certificate and a certificate of recovery for the individuals who have been infected with COVID 19 within three months of their travel date.
2. A Thailand Pass must be obtained for arrivals by air or land, or a certificate of entry must be obtained for arrivals by water from the Royal Thai Embassy or appointed Consulate Generals. Visitors can select the permit that best meets their needs, such as the speedier Test and Go programme or the existing Sandbox programme, which limits your stay to a government-approved list of sites for seven days before allowing you to travel elsewhere. Non-vaccinated travellers can choose between a 7/10/14-day quarantine upon arrival.
3. A negative RT-PCR lab test was performed on all adults within 72 hours of their departure date. Children under the age of six who are travelling with parents who have received a negative RT-PCR test are not required to have a negative RT-PCR test result prior to arrival and can instead undergo a saliva test upon arrival. A single dose of licenced COVID-19 vaccinations is required for unaccompanied minors between the ages of 12 and 17.
4. Proof of payment for an accommodation of one night at a government-approved hotel, which includes the costs of one RT-PCR test on Day One and an Antigen Self-Test Kit on Day Five.
