FAQs on Best Electric Bikes in India

  • Is bike insurance required in India for electric bikes and scooters?

Insuring against third-party liability is required for electric scooters and motorcycles. However, for comprehensive coverage, choose comprehensive bike insurance, which also includes own damage protection, which guards your electric two-wheeler against unintentional damage.

  • Is buying an electric bike in India a wise option?

The state governments of India and the federal government of India both support the use of electric vehicles and provide incentives for their acquisition. In addition, buying an electric two-wheeler can save you money on taxes because EVs pay less sales tax (GST) than cars that run on gasoline or fuel.

  • Can my motorbike be converted to an electric bike?

No, due to the high cost of conversion, you cannot turn your conventional motorbike into an electric bike. Additionally, you shouldn't tamper with your motorcycle's initial mechanical parts or engine.

  • How to charge an electric scooter?

The maker provides a home charging station that you can use to power the electric scooter. You can also charge your electronic scooter at public charging points. A removable battery is also available on some electronic two-wheelers, which can be charged at home or work.

  • Can I use my electric bike when it's raining?

Yes, even during a monsoon, you can use an electric bike. However, you must exercise care. Avoid riding the EV on flooded roadways, park it in a dry location whenever possible, and keep the scooter and its parts dry after use.

  • Does my electronic two-wheeler need to be registered?

It is not necessary to register low-speed electronic two-wheelers with power ratings under 250 Watts. However, high-speed electric cars must be registered just like a regular two-wheeler.

  • Can I use water to wash my electric scooter?

Yes, like any other regular scooter, your electronic motorcycle can be cleaned with water. However, keep in mind that using high-pressure water should be avoided as the water may penetrate the battery compartment and harm electronic components.

Ultraviolette F99 Concept Electric Motorcycle to Debut in EICMA 2023

Ultraviolette Automotive has offered a sneak peek of an upcoming electric motorbike, slated for unveiling at EICMA 2023, commencing on 7 November in Milan. This impending electric motorcycle is reported to boast a maximum speed of 200 kmph. A teaser video released by Ultraviolette Automotive exhibits the motorcycle reaching a speed of 195 kmph, sparking anticipation for its 200 kmph capability.

The electric vehicle startup, headquartered in Bengaluru, which made a splash with its F77 model, introduced a new conceptual bike at Auto Expo 2023, dubbed the F99. The F99 is claimed to outperform the F77 electric superbike in terms of power. The teaser video hints that the forthcoming electric motorcycle at EICMA 2023 will be rooted in the F99 factory racing platform showcased earlier in the year. Nevertheless, Ultraviolette has kept the name of the upcoming motorcycle under wraps.

The forthcoming Ultraviolette electric motorbike features an exposed design, setting it apart from the fully faired F77. The teaser video discloses the absence of a headlamp and accentuates the sharp appearance of its side panels, indicating an aerodynamic design. Additionally, it incorporates a substantial TFT display that presents a variety of information about the motorbike.
